Therapy can work in lots of different ways. For me, it starts with the relationship between therapist and client. Whether you need someone to offer new perspectives, challenge ways of thinking or simply sit with you in your difficulty, I hope to create a space where you feel understood and supported in exploring your experiences.
In terms of my theoretical approach to counselling, I draw on person-centred, existential, psychodynamic and CBT modalities to find a way of working that suits you best. Client autonomy is important to me, so I do this in collaboration with you. You are always welcome to ask about the process, challenge what isn’t working and be an active participant in shaping our work.

I use Google Meet to schedule sessions and meet online. This doesn’t require you to download any software and you can access it with any email address. It meets the required standards for data privacy and confidentiality, but you should make sure that you are also satisfied with the platform’s security.

Each 50 minute session costs £55. This payment is due the day before our session; if payment isn’t received in advance, the session won’t go ahead. Payment is made by bank transfer - I share more about this after we have agreed to work together.

I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for clients in financial hardship. These spaces are restricted to six months of sessions to ensure access for a range of clients. I encourage you to contact me directly to discuss this in more detail as circumstances vary greatly.
I am committed to treating clients equitably and with trust and dignity. There is no perfect reduced-fee model, but I hope to offer fair financial access to therapy wherever possible.
Please note that, although there are no reduced-fee spaces currently available, you are welcome to contact me to discuss the waiting list. I do not offer reduced fees for counsellors in training.

I ask for as much notice as possible when cancelling a session, and offer you the same in return. If you cancel a session with more than 24 hours’ notice, we can try to rearrange for the same week where possible. If you have already paid, your payment will be carried over to your next session.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the session must be paid for as I will be unable to fill the space at short notice. If you miss two sessions without making contact with me, our sessions will be discontinued.
I will give you as much notice as possible for any holidays, breaks or cancellations. If I need to cancel a session at short notice, your payment will be carried over to your next session or refunded.

As a member of the BACP, I practise according to their ethical framework. However, this is a minimum standard for my ethical practice. I use Myira Khan’s anti-oppressive practice as my model for working within diversity, and encourage you to seek out her resources if this is an area that interests you. I’m always happy to discuss principles of anti-oppressive practice, how I apply these to my work, and how they affect our relationship. Therapy is a rich ground for intersections of identities and power dynamics to be made explicit, and I feel that openness and transparency are key to working ethically within diversity.

I work according to the BACP’s ethical framework, and ensure that any information you share is held in strict confidence. Exceptions to this are if I think there is significant risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or if I am legally obligated to. I discuss this with you wherever possible. I share more information about this in our contract, and you are welcome to ask me about it at any stage.
I will never look you up on social media or search for you online. I don’t respond to contact from clients on social media.
Any identifying information about you is held securely; you can read my data handling policy here.

If you’re interested in having therapy with me, you can contact me to arrange a free 15 minute conversation. In that phone call, we’ll establish how I might be able to help you. If we agree to work together, I’ll email you a contract to sign, then we’ll arrange our first online session. The first session must be paid for at the time of booking. Once payment is received, I’ll email you a link to the session.
